Kickoffs might look a little bit different if a rule proposed by the NCAA Football Rules Committee is enacted.
The committee proposed a rule that would allow the receiving team to fair catch the ball inside the 25-yard line to result in a touchback, according to a NCAA release on Friday afternoon.
“The committee discussed the kickoff play at great length and we will continue to work to find ways to improve the play,” Larry Fedora, chair of the committee and head coach at North Carolina, said in a release. “We believe making one change will allow us to study the effect of this change in terms of player safety.
