NCAA Board of Governors kicks decision on fall sports amid COVID-19 pandemic to August

The NCAA Board of Governors elected not to make any decisions at their meeting Friday about the fate of fall sports, instead pushing off further discussion into August to be able to monitor developments nationally around COVID-19 and then determine whether it is possible to hold championships for several sports, including the Football Championship Subdivision.

“The health and well-being of college athletes is the highest priority in deciding whether to proceed with our 22 NCAA championships beginning in late November,” NCAA president Mark Emmert said in a written statement. “We all remain deeply concerned about the infection trend lines we see.
