Jaxson Hayes has Oklahome ties
Jaxson Hayes, a 6-11 freshman from Texas who was selected eighth overall in the NBA draft on Thursday night, is the son of former University of Oklahoma coaches, Jonathan and Kristi Hayes.
Jonathan Hayes was an assistant football coach for Bob Stoops at Oklahoma and part of the 2000 national championship team. Kristi Hayes was an assistant basketball coach for Sherri Coale.
Jaxson Hayes was born in Norman but moved to Cincinnatti at the age of 3 when his father became the Bengals' tight ends coach.
