National writer: Was the offense in OU-Texas Tech good for college football?

If you like offense, last week's Oklahoma-Texas Tech game as a dream come true as the two teams combined for an NCAA-record 1,708 yards in the Sooners' 66-59 victory. Tech QB Patrick Mahomes accounted for 819 yards of offense on his own, a new FBS record.

However, CBS Sports' Dennis Dodd raised the question: Was it good for college football?

Essentially, the answer comes down to personal preference. Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby probably said it best.

"Offense sells tickets and defense wins championships," Bowlsby said.

Dodds spoke with Washington State coach Mike Leach, one of the premier minds of the Air Raid offense and former Texas Tech head coach, who was just as confused by the final stat lines as the rest of us.
