NEW YORK CITY — A year ago, Baker Mayfield sat on a couch in Norman, Oklahoma, watching the Heisman Trophy ceremony.
His distant fourth-place finish in voting kept him out of New York City, and as he watched Alabama running back Derrick Henry get anointed as the 2015 Heisman winner, he turned his attention to preparing for the Orange Bowl.
Saturday night, Mayfield again sat on a couch during the Heisman ceremony, but this time, he was wearing a suit and sandwiched in between teammate Dede Westbrook and 2007 Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow on a buttery black leather couch backstage at the PlayStation Theater.
