OU coach Lincoln Riley spoke positively about running back Trey Sermon during a teleconference Tuesday after Sermon announced his decision to transfer to Ohio State on March 22.
The Sooners have been beneficiaries of the transfer portal, but Riley understands OU will lose players to the portal, too.
“I think Trey saw a situation competitively that he felt like there was going to be a better opportunity to play a little more somewhere else,” Riley said. “I get it. I respect it. It’s part of the world we live in.”
Sermon ran for 1,691 yards and 18 touchdowns in his first two seasons at OU.
