FRISCO, TEXAS — Lincoln Riley knows Oklahoma needs a stronger defense to win a national championship.
That much was clear in the Sooners' 54-48 Rose Bowl loss.
So how does Riley plan to fortify his unit?
“We gotta recruit,” he said at Big 12 Media Days. “We feel like we're in the process of making a pretty good move there. That's the first thing that I've seen is our talent levels needed to increase, and I think we're on the way to doing that.”
Riley said he doesn't put much stock into external rankings from mainstream recruiting services, but he's pulled in a haul of elite defensive talent since taking over the reins from Bob Stoops a little more than a year ago.
