The Big 12's bowl order is close to being decided, although the conference will most likely be short at least one team from filling its full slate.
At 5-7, Texas would have a chance to be bowl eligible based on its academic performance rate if either South Alabama or Louisiana-Lafayette loses Saturday and falls short of six wins. But multiple industry sources confirmed Friday that Texas has decided not to accept a bowl bid, given the logistics with the dismissal of coach Charlie Strong and the recent hire of Tom Herman.
That could leave the Big 12 short of a team for the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth.
