Murray is right there, neck and neck, with Alabama’s sensational sophomore quarterback Tua Tagovailoa as the two prime contenders at this point in the season to win the coveted Heisman Trophy, college football’s most coveted individual prize.
According to an ESPN Experts Poll, Murray and Tagovailoa have built up a large lead over other Heisman hopefuls. Ten ESPN writers have voted for the top five 2018 Heisman candidates every week this season. Through Oct. 23, Tagovailoa has 50 points total, 10 more than Murray. After Murray the point totals drop all the way down to 16 for Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins, 11 for Clemson running back Travis Etienne and 10 for Houston defensive tackle Ed Oliver.
