Kevin Wilson left Indiana in December under a cloud of mystery. The Hoosiers had fired Wilson despite back-to-back bowl seasons. Doesn’t sound like a big deal, but Indiana had been to one bowl in the previous 21 seasons.
Wilson’s overall IU record wasn’t impressive – 26-47 – but no Indiana coach since 1947 has left Bloomington with a winning record. And Indiana has had some name coaches. Bill Mallory, John Pont, Lee Corso, Cam Cameron, Sam Wyche, Gerry DiNardo.
But Wilson was accused of mistreating players and was summarily fired before Indiana’s Foster Farms Bowl game.
Then in January, Wilson more than landed on his feet.
