Our stay in Kansas City was short. Both Oklahoma teams eliminated before 11 p.m. Wednesday. We were checked out of the downtown Marriott by 11 a.m. and on our way out of town before 60 percent of the Big 12 Tournament teams had even take trotted onto the Sprint Center court for a game.
This is not the way it used to be, of course. The old Big Eight Tournament started on a Friday, and the idea that both Sooners and Cowboys might get eliminated in the quarterfinals of a rock’em, sock’em league was just crazy. But now both OSU and OU seem allergic to Kansas City.
