NORMAN — A couple of years ago, linebacker Jordan Evans never thought he’d be a captain of his football team.
Before captains were elected at Norman North during his senior season, Evans went to his coach and told him he didn’t want the job.
He wasn’t trying to avoid responsibility or shirk leadership duties — in fact, it was quite the opposite.
“It meant more to other guys,” Evans said of being captain. “I told my coach when I went to him, that the guys running for captain, it meant way more to them and I knew I was going to go play somewhere else.
