In following Bob Stoops, Lincoln Riley inherits a talented Oklahoma team, as well as lofty expectations

Bob Stoops made the transition to successor Lincoln Riley sound so simple.

"I didn't want to miss the right opportunity to be able to step away and hand this baton off to Lincoln Riley and to help keep this all just going in a great direction," said Stoops as he announced his retirement after 18 seasons.

And you thought the Texas move from Charlie Strong to Tom Herman was quick.

Key OU figures gushed about the rise of the 33-year-old Riley after two years as the Sooners' offensive coordinator.

Stoops indicated that he wouldn't have walked away without Riley being in place.
