Jalen Hurts has been a leader for the Sooners from the moment he arrived on campus in January.
That much has been clear by the way Hurts has carried himself and the way teammates and coaches have talked about the quarterback who transferred from Alabama.
Hurts’ teammates validated his status this week when they elected Hurts one of four captains for the Sooners ahead of Sunday’s season opener against Houston (6:30 p.m., ABC).
“That’s probably the biggest thing to me up to this point,” Hurts said Wednesday after practice. “I know at Alabama, I played a significant role on a lot of their teams there in my three years.
