It’s not often OU’s defense prepares for a team operating an option-based scheme.
But this weekend, the Sooners will face a Tulane squad that can utilize a wishbone-type offense — popularized at Oklahoma through coach Barry Switzer’s tenure — by putting a wide receiver on either side of the offensive line and two running backs diagonally behind the quarterback on either side.
“Coach Switzer came through today,” defensive coordinator Mike Stoops said. “I was gonna ask him a few questions.
“They get to their bone a lot of different ways, but it’s a lot of true wishbone concepts.
