Gymnastics: OU's Mark Williams named head coach of men's U.S. Olympic team

Mark Williams of Oklahoma was named head coach of the men's U.S. Olympic team on Sunday. Williams will be making his fifth appearance at the Olympics, but this will be his first as head coach.

Williams was an assistant in 1996 and served on the staff in 2004, 2008 and 2012 as a personal coach. Williams has been head coach for Team USA twice in the World Championships. In 2014, the U.S. took the bronze medal under Williams.

"I am honored," Williams said in a release. "It's amazing to be in a position to lead any team at the Olympic Games, and I feel we are very fortunate to have athletes that have been part of the Olympic process in the past.
