The All-American Football Conference sort of survived. It started in 1946 with eight teams – the Chicago Rockets, the Los Angeles Dons, the San Francisco 49ers, the Cleveland Browns, the Miami Seahawks, the Buffalo Bisons, the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Yankees. The AAFC lasted four seasons, then three franchise were admitted into the NFL – the Browns, the 49ers and the Baltimore Colts, who had replaced the Miami franchise in the AAFC.
