NORMAN — When Drake and Isaac Stoops were playing receiver and defensive back at Whittier Middle School, they determined they could catch the football better without gloves.
Their father — Bob Stoops, the winningest coach in University of Oklahoma football history — suggested they might have better luck with gloves, and offered to get them each a good pair.
They declined.
“All I know is Ryan Broyles wears gloves,” Bob told them, referencing OU's two-time All-American receiver and one of the twin boys' favorite players.
Before long, Drake and Isaac changed their opinion on gloves.
