ORLANDO, Fla. — For as many games as his teams have won, for as many touchdowns as they have scored and for as much excitement as they have generated, UCF coach Josh Heupel, it seems, is still having to prove himself on a daily basis to a finicky fan base.
Whether he is calling plays on the field against Marshall as he will do Monday at the Gasparilla Bowl or whether he is announcing his early signing class as he did on Wednesday, Heupel is second-guessed more than any coach in history with an .840 winning percentage (21-4).
