Sydney Romero is chasing a dream this week.
The former Oklahoma third baseman is participating in the U.S. Olympic Softball Team trials with the hope of fulfilling a goal she’s had since she was a little girl. Playing for the United States wasn’t always Romero’s plan, though.
Romero and her older sister Sierra announced in January they’d accepted the invitation to try out for Mexico’s national softball team, but things have changed since then.
“We accepted the invite, and then it just didn’t go as planned,” Sydney Romero said. “It’s just not something that I wanted to do, so I ended up declining it early on.
