Former Shawnee High standout Eli Davis, now a redshirt freshman at Kansas, is hospitalized after taking a line drive off the ribs in Sunday's eventual 10-6 Jayhawks win over Texas.
Davis suffered fractured ribs and a lacerated spleen when Texas' Peter Geib lined the ball back to the mound.
Texas' official Twitter account said the ball came off the back at 108 mph.
Davis continued to pitch, making it through the fourth inning, allowing five hits and four runs — two earned — before exiting the game as his internal bleeding continued.
