Former Sooner and All-Big 12 linebacker Travis Lewis announced on his Instagram page on Thursday that he was retiring from football.
Lewis was selected in the 7th round by the Detroit Lions in 2012. Through four seasons with the team, he was credited with 36 total tackles and a sack.
In 2016 Lewis signed in free agency with the Minnesota Vikings, but was cut before training camp.
"Hi everyone! So I'm making it official and submitted my retirement papers to the NFL. I made this decision early 2016 shortly after signing with the Vikings but haven't officially done it till now.
