Former Oklahoma athletic director Donnie Duncan died Sunday morning after a long battle with cancer.
Duncan was an OU assistant football coach from 1973-78 and Iowa State’s head coach from 1979-82. He became the Sooners’ athletic director in 1986, a job he held for 10 years before taking a position with the newly formed Big 12 Conference in 1996.
“The entire Big 12 Conference is saddened to hear of Donnie’s passing,” Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby said in a news release. “He was a great friend to all of us and one that we will miss dearly.
