Former Oklahoma, Allen High School star Kyler Murray taken No. 1 overall by Arizona Cardinals in NFL draft

After months of waiting and weeks of speculation, it finally happened: Kyler Murray was selected with the No. 1 overall pick by the Arizona Cardinals.

Murray will now be united with former Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury, who was hired as Arizona’s head coach back in January.

This selection makes history in a couple different areas. Oklahoma is the first program in history to have quarterbacks taken No. 1 overall in back-to-back drafts. Former Sooner Baker Mayfield was taken No. 1 overall by the Cleveland Browns in the 2018 class.

Murray also becomes the first player in history to be selected in the first round of both the NFL and MLB drafts.
