Jeff Capel Jr., the father of former Oklahoma men's basketball coach Jeff Capel III has died.
Capel Jr.'s death was announced by Fayetteville State, where the older Capel once coached.
Capel Jr. was 64. He suffered from amyotrophic lateral scleroris, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. He was diagnosed in 2016.
Capel III is currently an assistant coach at Duke.
Last season, Capel Jr. sat on the Duke bench with his son and Blue Devils head coach Mike Krzyzewski during Duke's 99-94 win over Wake Forest.
