HOUSTON — As the Sooners' shootaround on the NRG Stadium stage wound down Friday, Buddy Hield found himself launching shots from the Final Four logo. Probably 30 feet from the basket.
And Hield's fellow guards migrated around him. Not shooting. Just watching.
This wasn't keep-it-loose hijinks at the end of a ceremonial workout. This was game preparation. This was a weapon we're likely to see Saturday against Villanova. Hield from deep — deep deep; downtown deep — has become a new mode of attack for this Oklahoma basketball team.
“It's unguardable, really,” said OU's Jordan Woodard.
