Kyler Murray and Will Grier spent the 2014 football season in the same conference. That really hasn’t changed since. But the conference has changed.
In 2015, Murray was a true freshman at Texas A&M, where he played sparingly until late in the year and quarterbacked the Aggies against South Carolina (win), Auburn (loss) and Western Carolina (win).
Murray’s statistics for that season: 59.5 percent completion percentage, five touchdown passes, seven interceptions, 5.7 yards per pass. Murray also ran for 335 yards on 53 carries, including a monster 156-yard game against South Carolina. But no real signs that he would one day terrorize the entire sport with a skill set that seems far in the future.
