The Home Depot College Football Awards could be an indication whether Oklahoma's Kyler Murray has overtaken Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa in the Heisman race.
While the Heisman won't be announced until Saturday in New York, Murray and Tagovailoa will be competing head-to-head for two awards -- the Davey O'Brien (top quarterback) and the Maxwell (player of the year). Six of the eight Heisman Trophy winners this decade also won the Davey O'Brien. The Maxwell winner has also collected the Heisman for the last four years.
Here's a breakdown of the awards Thursday, to be televised on ESPN:
Bednarik Award (Defense)
Finalists: Josh Allen, Kentucky; Christian Wilkins, Clemson; Quinnen Williams, Alabama
Breakdown: Wilkins is the leader of the nation's best defensive line at Clemson and has gotten lots of exposure.
