College baseball: Jake Elliott pitches Sooners past Mountaineers

GRANVILLE, W.Va. — Jake Elliott pitched 71/3 innings of strong baseball Friday night, leading No. 23-ranked Oklahoma to a 2-0 Big 12 victory over West Virginia before 1,719 fans at Monongalia County Ballpark.

Elliott (4-3) allowed just two hits and two walks while striking out eight. Ralph Garza Jr. and Jacob Evans combined to throw the last 12/3 innings; they did not allow a hit, walked one and combined for five strikeouts.

West Virginia starting pitcher B.J. Myers (2-2) was impressive, too. He gave up both Sooner runs on just five hits and four walks. He struck out 10.
