Collected Wisdom of Skip Johnson, Oklahoma pitching coach

Age: 50 Hometown: Denton, Texas

Tim Tadlock saw the coaching potential in Skip Johnson early.

“We used to have camps when we were in college,” Tadlock, Johnson's childhood friend and current Texas Tech head coach, said. “If we needed some money we'd call somebody in Pilot Point (Texas) and say, ‘Hey, we're going to have a camp tomorrow up there. Bring some kids.' You could see he liked to teach, even at that time.”

Johnson started out coaching as an assistant coach at Navarro College in Texas in 1993. The next year, he took over as head coach of the Bulldogs.
