Iowa State begins a two-week stretch of its most important games of the season. The arch-rivalry showdown at Iowa on Saturday, followed by a home game Sept. 15 against Big 12 heavyweight Oklahoma, which the Cyclones upset a year ago.
And Iowa State does so without a game under its belt. The Cyclones’ home game against South Dakota State was delayed by lightning with 10:55 left in the first quarter last Saturday. The Cyclones led 7-0, but the game eventually was canceled.
Iowa State coach Matt Campbell has some experience with cancellations – his 2015 Toledo team opened the season with Stony Brook, but weather torpedoed the game.
