SALT LAKE CITY (AP) BYU has hired Guard Young as its next women's gymnastics coach, athletic director Tom Holmoe said Thursday.
Young was an assistant with the Oklahoma men's program for nine seasons during two stints from 2000-05 and 2011-15. The Sooners won four NCAA championships and were the runners-up five times with Young on staff.
He replaces Brad Cattermole, who retired after 28 years.
Young was inducted into the BYU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010. He won two national championships on the vault at BYU and placed second in the individual all-around in 2000.
