The Sporting News on Tuesday named Oklahoma’s senior scoring leader and reigning Big 12 Player of the Year its Midseason Player of the Year in college basketball.
Through 14 games in the 2015-16 season, the 6-4 Hield is second in the nation in scoring, averaging 26.6 points to go along with 5.6 rebounds and close to 2.5 assists per game. What has made Hield’s performance so outstanding this season isn’t just reflected in the points he scores but rather the efficiency of his production. The four-year Oklahoma starter is shooting better than 50 percent from the field and has been equally as proficient when he steps back behind the three-point line.
