As Oklahoma begins spring practice this week, the status of its star player still hangs in the air.
QB Baker Mayfield was arrested in Fayetteville, Ark., on Feb. 25 on charges of public intoxication, disorderly resisting arrest and fleeing and faces an April 7 court date for the intoxication charge. Oklahoma's spring game is April 8.
However, no disciplinary action from the football program toward Mayfield has been announced, even after video of his arrest -- during which he was tackled to the ground by a Fayetteville police officer -- was released March 10.
Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops addressed the situation during his spring presser Monday, saying it's custom for the program to wait until the legal system has run its course before deciding if or how to punish a player.
