Bob Stephenson, whose character matched his reputation as a prince of a man, died Friday at the age of 91, leaving behind many great legacies. Family. Church. Business. Military. And sports.
Stephenson, born in Blair on August 11, 1928, was a standout baseball player who played in 67 games as a shortstop for the 1955 St. Louis Cardinals.
Stephenson played baseball at OU from 1947-50 and became a huge supporter of the university. As recently as 2018, he made a $1 million donation to the renovation project for Sooner baseball’s Mitchell Park.
Stephenson also was the visionary behind all-sports radio in Oklahoma.
