NORMAN — A familiar face to sports fans was on the sidelines of Oklahoma's football win over Texas Tech last weekend.
Wearing a greay OU shirt and a white Sooners hat, former Major League Baseball slugger Mark McGwire took in the game as part of his son's recruiting trip to Norman.
That apparently paid off, as Oklahoma got a commitment from Capistrano Valley (California) first baseman/right-handed pitcher Max McGwire, a 2021 prospect.
The 6-foot-2 McGwire is among the top prospects in the class, unsurprisingly showing plenty of power at the plate.
On the mound, he has a fastball that has so far shown in the upper 80s with a strong slider as well.
