Conference supervisor of officials Walt Anderson has resigned, Commissioner Bob Bowlsby said Wednesday.
The Big 12 wanted its officials supervisor in its replay command post on Saturday for games, something Anderson could not do as a full-time NFL official. Anderson has worked for the Big 12 since 2006.
“Walt is very good at his job,” Bowlsby said. “It's a loss for us, but understand why he's doing what he's doing. Walt did a wonderful job with development and identification of officials."
At the same time, the image of Big 12 football officials seemed to take a hit under Anderson, even spawning a parody Twitter account.
