FRISCO, TEXAS — Kansas linebacker Khalil Herbert's answers got shorter and his voice got lower when Aaron Feis' name came up Monday at Big 12 Media Days.
Feis was the coach and security guard at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, who was lauded as a hero in February after he threw himself in front of students when a gunman fired rounds throughout the school.
The 37-year-old Fies was one of 17 who died in the shooting.
Herbert attended Stoneman Douglas through his junior football season before moving to American Heritage High School in Plantation, Florida.
