From last year's sub-.500 team to this year, most of Baylor's roster was the same.
One big difference, though, was freshman catcher Shea Langeliers.
Langeliers hit .321 with a .956 OPS this season to help Baylor finish 34-19 and almost surely earn a berth into an NCAA Regional for the first time since 2012.
Langeliers' performance earned him The Oklahoman's Freshman of the Year honor.
As good as Langeliers was all season, he was even better when Big 12 play began, hitting .355 with a 1.046 OPS.
“When Shea comes to play, you always know something special can happen,” Bears outfielder Richard Cunningham said earlier this year.
