Freshman Smith takes over for Bears
Baylor quarterback Seth Russell suffered an excruciating injury (broken neck) last season, and true freshman Jarrett Stidham came on and played well.
Now Russell has suffered another excruciating injury (broken ankle, Saturday against OU), and with Stidham having left Baylor, another true freshman, Zach Smith, takes over as the Bears host Kansas State this weekend.
“I hope we can get him ready in a hurry,” Baylor coach Jim Grobe said. “He's not gotten a lot of repetitions. When we did get him in, we mostly ran the football.
