Big 12 basketball gets respect from NCAA selections shows

This is the time of year when it’s traditional to tell Big 12 basketball to put up or shut up. The conference usually gets a batch of invitations to the NCAA Tournament, then fails to deliver once the ballgames begin.

The Big 12 placed two teams in the Final Four in back-to-back seasons – OU and Kansas in 2002, Texas and Kansas in 2003 – followed by OSU in the 2004 Final Four. That’s five Big 12 teams and four Big 12 schools in the Final Four over a three-year period.

But since then, only three Big 12 teams have made the Final Four – Kansas in 2008 and 2012, OU in 2016.
