NORMAN — Modern college football players rarely are historians. To them, historical figures are Johnny Manziel and Robert Griffin III. Tim Tebow and Reggie Bush are old-timers.
But sometimes the young'ns will surprise you. Like Sooner fullback Dmitri Flowers, who this week contemplated the import of OU-TCU on Saturday in Fort Worth.
“If we lose, it's 1-3 and one of the worst starts in the history of Oklahoma football,” Flowers said. “But if we win, it's a new season.”
Correct on all counts. And enlightening. OU's losses to Houston and Ohio State have focused on how disappointing has been this Sooner September.
