The Saturday night autograph session benefitting former Sooners star Rickey Dixon raised more than $7,000, organizers said Sunday.
Dixon, who was among the players from the 1985 national championship team that was honored at halftime Saturday, was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) two years ago. He recently made the battle with the disease public.
A GoFundMe page set up recently to raise money for Dixon had nearly reached its $10,000 goal Sunday night.
Dixon’s wife, Lorraine Dixon, posted a message on the site Saturday night.
“I cannot let another day go by without stopping to thank everyone for your support for Rickey and my family,” the message said.
