I’ve been writing a series on David Boren’s recollections of OU football coaching fires and hires. You can find those columns here, here and here.
Interestingly, the series transcends each side of the most famous hire/fire in Sooner history. Today is the 29th anniversary of Barry Switzer’s forced resignation.
Switzer walked away from OU football on June 19, 1989. He’s come back, of course, though not in any official capacity. Switzer has been a huge Sooner presence since returning to Norman in 1998, following four years coaching the Dallas Cowboys.
