NEW YORK — Before Baker Mayfield returned to Oklahoma from his New York City adventure, he had one more stop to make at the Marriott Marquis.
Mayfield donned a traditional tuxedo and attended the Heisman Gala, an annual event where previous Heisman winners welcome the newest winner into their exclusive fraternity.
This year, 18 former winners attended the event, inducing former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow and Miami quarterback Gino Torretta, being honored for the 10th and 25th anniversaries of their Heisman wins, respectively.
Billy Sims was the only former winner from OU, but he made his presence known with a couple signature Boomer yells, and he acted as an auctioneer for a Heisman jersey later in the evening.
