NORMAN — Baker Mayfield is talking smack to Sam Ehlinger, and it does a heart good to hear Sooner-Longhorn swagger.
Brian Bosworth and Jeff Leiding. Barry Switzer and Darrell Royal. Breckyn Hager and Kyler Murray, as recently as last autumn. The principals of these ancient rivals don’t like each other, never have, and often say so.
So it wasn’t too surprising when Mayfield unloaded on Ehlinger last week when Mayfield returned to town to conduct a football camp and jumped on air with KREF-1400 to ignite a fire.
Mayfield was asked if Texas is back, considering the Longhorns split two games with the Sooners last season and beat Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.
