NORMAN, Oklahoma -- From the moment Baker Mayfield entered Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium on Saturday night, he was ready.
He made his intentions clear not with a quote or a flag plant, but rather his choice of attire: A “traitor” shirt designed by Texas Tech fans a year ago when Mayfield made his first return to Lubbock as an opposing player.
He uttered not a word, but everyone in the building — including the rest of the Sooners — knew this one meant a little bit more to Mayfield.
“The ‘traitor’ shirt, it all just shows how passionate he is about the game and our team and just winning,” cornerback Jordan Thomas said.
