And only Riley could answer whether he wants to jump to the NFL eventually.
But caveats aside, Herbstreit - ESPN's college football commentator who will join the network's draft coverage for the first time this year - sees the writing on the wall.
The NFL has its eyes on Lincoln Riley.
"It wouldn't surprise me at all to see the NFL, within a few years, knock on his door and try to get him to leave," Herbstreit told SportsDay on Tuesday.
