NORMAN — Tulsa linebacker Zaven Collins was named to The Associated Press All-America first team on Monday, headlining a group of players with state ties.
Collins, who won the Bronko Nagurski Trophy as the top defensive player in college football, had 54 tackles, 11.5 for loss, with four interceptions this season.
The Hominy native won't play in Thursday's Armed Forces Bowl vs. Mississippi State after opting out to prepare for the NFL Draft.
OU had a pair of players on the team, with linebacker Nik Bonitto earning second-team honors and center Creed Humphrey made third team.
