A former NFL GM expects Baker Mayfield to use Texas high school and Oklahoma schemes with Browns

For a story about how Texas high school offenses and the growing popularity of 7-on-7 has influenced the evolution of offensive styles in college football in the NFL, former NFL executive and player evaluator Phil Savage weighed in on Baker Mayfield’s potential impact.

As the No. 1 pick in the 2018 NFL draft, the Oklahoma product and Westlake graduate will surely get his chance to prove his worthiness with the Browns, Savage said, but he added that Cleveland’s coaches will have to tailor their system to compliment Mayfield’s strengths.
